Cacophony-Bagpipes

May 15, 2009 brought "Cacophony" (sorry the audio file is mis-spelled) to Snug Harbor Cultural Center. "Cacophony" was a local performance protest/celebration, organized by SiCoLab, that involved a diverse group of Staten Island's musicians, artists and other creative people. It was a protest, in the sense that artists and art appreciators wanted to express their disappointment with Snug Harbor's growing lack of programming for home-grown cultural and creative talent. It was a celebration in the sense of carnival, that subversive and fun tradition of taking the high and mighty and putting them on a hobby horse. One highlight: bagpipes played by Cindy Casserly.
