Peepers on Forest Avenue
Peepers on Forest Avenue
Audio File:
Staten Island is overrun by "peepers" at a certain time of year. Peepers are tiny frogs that seem to materialize spontaneously when the wetland and lowland areas of Staten Island are green and lush. The peepers reproduce in the thousands, as you can hear in the little piece I've added to the map. I recorded this in a pocket wetland right next to the UA Cinemas on Forest Avenue, a block from South Avenue, across from Home Depot. It was recorded at 9:30PM. You can hear a passing car that is turning into the drive to the cinema.
