Anyone can listen to the sounds on this site. But to upload and download sounds you must become a member. It's easy! Just click the link at the top of this page (Join/Register) to start the process. Once you’re a member, you can upload and download sounds whenever you wish—and you'll also be able to post on our Member Blog and interact with other members on the Member Forum page.

• We accept sound files in wav and mp3 formats only
• Maximum file size: 20MB

TO DOWNLOAD SOUNDS
Search for sounds on the Audio Database page.
Once you find the sound you want to download, click on the download button.

Creative Commons Sampling Plus 1.0 License agreement when uploading material
By uploading content to this site you retain your copyright but agree to be governed by the Creative Commons Sampling Plus 1.0 license, which means that you agree that other SLSI members may “sample, mash-up, or otherwise creatively transform [your] work for commercial or non-commercial purposes,” and that they may “perform, display, and distribute copies of [your] whole work for noncommercial purposes (e.g., file-sharing or noncommercial webcasting)” as long as they ”must attribute [your] work in the manner specified by [you], but not in any way that suggests that [you] endorse the downloader or the downloader’s use of your work.” See: http://creativecommons.org/

What is a sound artist?

Sound artists work creatively with audio experience to heighten our awareness of sound and its relationship to our daily life. They encourage intentional listening. The work of a sound artist can take many forms. It may be a performance piece or an installation, a musical mash-up or an electronic improvisation. It may involve ambulatory listening, with a group or in solitary. Sound artists may be musicians,scientists, electronic geeks or educators. Most value original audio experience and seek to undermine, bypass or reframe prepackaged sound experiences. Learn more on our FAQ page.
