Thank You

Thank You!

Sounds Like Staten Island is the creation of artist Robin Locke Monda, an Integrated Media Arts MFA candidate at Hunter College (CUNY). Many people have assisted in making this project possible, on both a personal and technical level. Thank you to:

Martin Lucas, Director of the Integrated Media Arts MFA Program at Hunter College (CUNY) and my primary thesis advisor, for his wise advice, complete support and enthusiasm for the SLSI initiative. I could not have done this without him.

Timothy Portlock, Assistant Professor, Integrated Media Arts MFA Program at Hunter College (CUNY), and my second thesis advisor, for his support of the SLSI initiative and his thoughts regarding future directions for the project.

David Grubbs, Assistant Professor and Conservatory of Music Director, Programs in Performance and Interactive Media Arts (PIMA), Brooklyn College, CUNY and my third thesis advisor, for his wise council regarding my thesis paper and presentation, and his enthusiasm for the SLSI initiative.

Andrea Polli, Director, Interdisciplinary Film and Digital Media (IFDM) Program at the University of New Mexico and former Associate Professor of Film and Media in the Integrated Media Arts MFA program at Hunter College (CUNY), for introducing me to the theoretical underpinnings surrounding contemporary sound art practices.

James Bradley, principal of WebServesUs, and adjunct instructor at Hunter College (CUNY), for providing me with the opportunity to learn more about website development, and for generously supporting the SLSI initiative by building the Drupal site. The project could not have been realized without him.

Sheetal Rajkondawar, Web Developer, WebServesUs.org, for her technical expertise and help in achieving the vision I had for the SLSI website.

Edward Ficklin, Lakeisha Yarde, Robin Ting, and Vanja Jelic for all of their skills and help in making the SLSI project happen.

Seth Wollney, Public Program Associate at the Staten Island Museum, for his early enthusiasm for the SLSI project, and to the Staten Island Museum for partnering with SLSI for a series of listening workshops in early 2010.

Beth Gorrie, director of Staten Island OutLOUD, for her enthusiastic support and interest in the SLSI project. She has generously promoted the SLSI project at several SI OutLOUD events.

Council on the Arts & Humanities for Staten Island's Melanie Franklin Cohn, Executive Director, for her support and interest in the SLSI project.

Robert Monda, my husband and best friend, for his constant support of me and this project.

Ellen Wright, my good friend, poet, musician and educator, for reviewing music-related content for the SLSI website and providing all-around support.

Lila Levey, my good friend, for reviewing the SLSI website content, advising me on sounds located around Staten Island and providing all-around support.

Jo Anne Kavanagh, my good friend, for reviewing the SLSI website content and connecting me to the Staten Island educational community.
